Description

Greek Phyllo Meat Pie is a delightful culinary masterpiece that combines crispy layers of phyllo pastry with a savory filling of spiced meat and vegetables. Perfect for any occasion, this dish will impress your family and friends with its irresistible flavor and stunning presentation.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground lamb or beef
  • 8 sheets phyllo dough
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 tbsp melted butter or olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté chopped onions until translucent, then add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
  2. Stir in the ground meat and cook until browned. Season with cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, pepper, and parsley.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before mixing in beaten eggs to bind the filling.
  4. Brush a baking dish with melted butter or oil. Layer four sheets of phyllo dough in the dish, brushing each layer generously.
  5. Spoon the meat mixture onto the phyllo base evenly. Cover with another four sheets of phyllo, brushing again as you layer.
  6. Bake for 30-40 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
